The word "massage", in Greek, Hebrew and Arabic, means: to press lightly, to palpate, to
knead...that is...to touch.
Massage is a very old therapy against physical pain. Using his hands and a bit of oil, the massage therapist works on the skin, the muscles, the tendons, the ligaments, the joints and the circulation (of blood and lymph). There are numerous effects:
A relaxation,
A lessening of tensions and pains,
An increase in the amplitude of movement,
A enhanced circulation of blood and lymph,
A increased oxygenation of the tissues,
An elimination of the toxins,
And even an awareness of inner tensions and "knots"...
Without forgetting a great feeling of well-being!
There exists many massage techniques, but I adopt the Swedish Massage which allies slow and rapid, light and deep movements...in order to stimulate the natural capacities of the body to relax, shed its toxins, oxygenate itself and regenerate.
